I try not to dream.

Not 'cause there isn't better out there. There is. Some kids do get out. Usually, it's not worth it.

My friend dreams. Hope keeps her alive.

But sometimes...sometimes I dream anyway. It's a little dream, being warm, someone crooning over me.

I like that dream. While I'm dreaming. It's just...

For me, it's harder. Harder to imagine better, harder to hope, when nothing changes.

'Cause, when I wake up, it ends. And it's the same old shit, all over again.
