She didn't save him to be a hero--not entirely, anyway. She saved him because...because she'd heard the stories. Growing up in a border town meant the propaganda from the capital city didn't hold as much sway, and he...
He was the kind of person she wished she could be.
So, when she saw those bandits find him, and drug him, and take him to their ruined fortress, she followed them.
Later, she figured that the moment when she opened the door and saw him there, still half-drugged but ready to fight, was the moment when she lost her heart.
1007 FY
He had never had sex before. Not for lack of opportunity or desire--when he could hide his incompleteness, he was handsome, and rank got him offers at home. He just...didn't like exposing himself.
With her, it was different. With her, it was safe. He didn't feel exposed and vulnerable. She was there to catch him, she was a safety net at the bottom of the mountain, her hands gentle on his skin, her mouth soft on his, not hot, not pressing.
Being with her was being wrapped in a blanket of beauty and sweet love, and absolutely magical.

They married in Sanru, in autumn. It was quiet, and it was private, but it was not impulsive. It probably looked that way--finding a priest in a tiny coastal town, but it wasn't.
They'd talked about it before, half joking, because his mother would never agree. But they were both adults, and she was standing there, smiling, crowned with golden leaves. Asking just felt...right. So they went down to the rocky beach and whispered their vows to the wind.
Maybe it was a little impulsive, and of course there would be consequences, but still. Neither of them regretted it.
