Notes: This is an overview of the In SPACE AU.

1. Lime Rickey--Taz

She stole her ship, naturally--the Morning Glory, an S-class trader, perfect for the smuggling runs that were her life, not just her livelihood.

2. Black Russian--Kes

Ochi chyornye, an old Russian freighter, that's what Kes buys to start her fleet after Taz retires and she goes into business for herself.

3. Ectoplasm--Deshell

Deshell just kept reminding himself that, despite all the problems manhandling drunken Xyiroril out of the bars, despite their having twice as many limbs and three times the height, and all the slime, and the stench, they weighed next to nothing.

4. Harvey Wallbanger--Kellom

He's a government agent, and damn good at his job, but the more he sees of the seediness of life on all layers of the planetary city he tries to patrol, the more Kellom thinks something drastic needs to be done to fix everything that's wrong.

5. Bloody Aztec--Ineku

Ineku is one of the few doctors that prefers not to rely too heavily on machines--no, it's not that they miss details, but he feels there's a psychological benefit to human contact, even as a surgeon, that makes his outdated, outlandish thoughts worthwhile--and even non-Luddite patients come to him, so that must count for something.

6. Chupacabra--Kit

He hunts the elusive, the predatory, the monstrous, the creatures that shouldn't have sentience but somehow do, and he takes their most active body part--hands, tentacles, tongues, whatever's best.

7. Jack Rose--Nellid

He lives a private life, avoiding the more exciting worlds of his parents and sisters and brothers, teaching art and cultivating crystal roses, bred from the classic red and a rare form of space orchid, since the nectar of his roses is what keeps his heart beating when all else has failed.

8. Hangman's Blood--Tana

Pingpingpingping, four lasers, four blasts, four perfect hits, all in places where the burns would hurt worst--not aiming to kill, even for these criminals, these were humans, after all, but oh she loved to hear them scream.

9. Incredible Hulk--Mel

Mel has secrets, buried deep in his library--digital, audio, even old-fashioned realbooks which haven't been made in centuries--almost as deep as the ones buried in his soul.

10. Pisco Sour--Mellir

He hates it, always being second best--if that--with his brothers and even his sisters outshining him, so he gets drunk and brags and convinces himself he's better than he knows he is.

11. Corpse Reviver #2--Rema

There are always tensions between humans and non-humans, and between different species of non-humans, naturally, but Rema knows just how to exploit them to make things best for everyone, if only they'd listen.

12. My Fair Lady--Sola

They call her Lady, because she has her fingers in every damn entertainment pie on the planet, and that means that everyone, but everyone--black, grey, white markets, whoever--has to play ball with Sola.

13. The Last Word--Kirana

Predictions are easy, even accurate ones--no, she isn't psychic, she thinks psychic gifts are a joke at best, but it's all there in the numbers, if you know where to look.

14. Satan's Whiskers--Isshiri

A daredevil cyborg who breaks more hearts than he knows were thrown at his feet, Isshiri perches on the highest point in the city, with only an oxygen mask and his catlike reflexes keeping him balanced before he makes the dive.

15. Pink Lady--Fesha

When people need a refuge, from the scheming at the top or the desperation at the bottom, they know they can come to Fesha, even if it's just for a day.

16. Delilah--Nida

She hates herself for it, but she whispers in his ear, guides him along paths that might not be the best for him, or the safest, but they're the best for the planet, and dammit that has to mean something.

17. Green Vesper--Sorell Younger

Sorell dreams of when he's grown up, and he can fly away from this place and from Mamma, maybe to one of the colony-planets, where no one will know his name or his family, maybe then he'll feel safe.

18. Death in the Afternoon--Kesshare

Kesshare is very grateful to live in the time and place she does--it is, after all, a simple matter to get what one wants in this world, where destroying evidence is as easy as finding an airlock or an incinerator, and convincing the world you are beyond suspicion as easy as smiling at a camera.

19. One-Balled Dictator--Sorell

This planet is more than his domain, it is his home, it is his life, and, despite all its flaws, he loves it more than anything except possibly his immediate family, and his nightmare is having to choose between them.

20. Savoy Affair--Fera

All the late, whispered phone calls--phone calls, audio only, she was so surprised those things still existed, there was nothing like them at all on her home planet, which was practically a frontier compared to the city-planet--had Fera convinced her husband was having an affair, and when she found out the truth, she wished, more than anything, that she'd been right.

21. Golden Doublet--Andrell

He tried not to fidget in his uniform, and secretly feels so ashamed that, unlike all the other men and women here, he only joined the Corps because Kellom kept pressuring him to do something Productive with his life, nevermind that he didn't want to go military, or even police, no matter how much he loves his brother.

22. Slippery Nipple

Lonura knows, the moment she first lays eyes on her, that no matter what kind of family she comes from, Nolani is the only person she will ever love.

23. Skittle Bomb--Telri

Multicolored, ever-changing, one of the few species capable of breeding with non-humans, and therefore one of the most despised, Telri finds sanctuary with the cyborg who never quite fit in himself.

24. Hurricane--Dallu

Dallu strongly suspects that this counts as what they used to call Stockholm Syndrome, except the Captain never harmed him, and she knew he would never be ransomed--penniless wanderer that he was--and she seems to feel the exact same way about him.

25. Hairy Virgin--Riluke

She bought a bar--with Mel's name on the deed, too, she never wanted him to have to be destitute the way he was when they first met ever again--because a drink here, a smile there, and a ridiculously memorable name are all she needs to seem harmless before she leans back and absorbs more information than she'd ever dreamed possible before.

26. Sake Manhattan--Selmid

Selmid's a smart kid, who knows how to keep himself alive--even with incinerators and money accessed purely electronically, nothing physical at all, there are ways to get by, and if he could just get that dead alien out of his head, life wouldn't be so bad at all, even by himself.

27. Slammer Royale--Amassa

He still has a title, even though the planet unified as a democracy centuries ago, some legacy some ancestor held on to, and he likes that, if nothing else, it gives him prestige and access to better the lives of the citizens of U.E.--he doesn't think command would suit him, anyway.

28. Screaming Orgasm--Nolani

It takes Nolani all of ten minutes to learn that virtual sex, no matter how perfect her custom-designed, multi-sensory holographic partner is, doesn't come anywhere close to the real thing.

29. 20th Century--Keta

Keta is an anomaly, living off outdated tech as much as she can, burying herself in history--if she doesn't know where they came from, she can't advise her father on where to go from here.

30. Gimlet--Deva

Somehow, her eyes seem even fiercer over the viewscreen, and between that and the added safety from particularly violent defendents, since the tech's good enough that they don't lose any other sensory data, Deva loves long-distance prosecuting.
