Learning to Rule
Jun. 2nd, 2012 08:48 pmStory: Learning to Rule
Year: 940 FY
Characters: King Sorell
Sorell had been King for all of three days and he was already hopelessly lost. He knew a little bit of the principles behind governing a city the size of Feredar and the territory it controlled, but he'd been the youngest of five sons. His father had given him a lot of freedom in choosing what to study, and most of what he'd picked hadn't been exactly practical.
He put the document--something about the import records of cotton for the last six months--off to one side and rubbed at his temples.
He sat there for a minute, then sighed and extracted himself from behind his desk. If staring at it and turning it upside down wasn't going to help him understand all the things he was supposed to do, then it was probably time to find his way to the palace library and learn how to run an economy.
...It was going to be a very long night.
