The cart swayed under Isshiri, and he let himself drift along to its rhythm. The road was otherwise empty; it was clear and crisp, with trees mostly bare of leaves reaching up to the early-morning sky and his breath making soft clouds. But the sun was rising, the light was bright between the trees, and warm against his skin.
He was no more than a day outside Feredar, and he knew that it wasn't likely to be a pleasant visit, so he chose to take a breath and savor this moment of peace, an autumn dawn on the empty road.
