Rellos is a quiet child. He hides, tries to shrink away if spoken to, and rarely, if ever, talks.
But as time goes by, he gets less uncomfortable, and, one day, nearly three months after she brought him home, he curls up next to Fesha, quiet and close while she works. She smiles, and rests a hand briefly on his head. He peeks up at her and gives a hint of a smile back. From then on, he stays glued to Fesha's side--her quiet, devoted shadow.
And then his biological mother comes to steal him away.
And everything goes silent.
