New Horizons
Story: New Horizons
Year: 1009 FY
Characters: Telri, Isshiri, Roneli
She held her child and prayed. There was plenty to make her worry.
Her daughter could have any Thread from her family--lightning, earth, blood--or her father's fire.
They had no support system. She had no family left, Isshiri’s didn't know about her. She knew his mother would be displeased to learn he'd married a blood-mage of no political value.
A difficult life she was handing to her daughter, but she'd find a way. She knew Isshiri would stay. Even if they had to keep wandering, running from his mother's wrath until they died, their daughter would be safe.

He sat next to his sleeping wife and daughter, and wondered where they'd go. Though he loved travelling, they couldn't keep wandering. Not with a child. And eventually, he'd have to tell his family.
They'd need somewhere where they'd be safe, until he figured out how. There was his sister’s court in Feredar. As angry as Nolani would be that he'd kept Telri--and now Roneli--a secret, she'd forgive, and keep them safe. But he’d spent decades staying away, and Telri probably wouldn't want to go, either.
He let out a long, slow breath. He'd think of something. Eventually.

It's a pretty world. Full of light and color.
But it's dry, and cold, and big.
But mostly cold.
And the light is brightbright, too bright. I'm not sure I like it.
But there's soft and warm, and pretty grey eyes watching from above me and pretty dark eyes watching from the other side of the place I'm in now.
Everything's big, sobig I don’t even know what’s real and what’s fuzzy not-real.
But it's pretty. And even if it's big and cold and bright, there's bits of soft and warm and nice. And pretty greydark eyes.
I like it.
