Fesha could hear the cicadas singing all around them. The sunset was blending in with the moonrise for the shortest night of the year. She leaned comfortably against Deshell, his chin on the top of her head, their hands twined together.
"Fesha?"
"Mm?" She tilted her head back at him, meeting his eyes upside-down with drowsy contentment.
"Would you like to get married?"
She blinked, caught a little off-guard--he’d never even hinted he was going to ask--then smiled. The quiet night, the red-gold shaded moon, the simplicity of the proposal--all of it was perfect. Especially him.
"Yes."
