The Royal Family of Feredar:
King Sorell (925 FY-988 FY, r. 940-988 FY): The youngest of King Pellin's five sons, he became king at age fifteen when the palace was attacked by mages and his parents and all four brothers were killed. Sorell is extremely devoted to his family, and takes a parental view towards kingship. His fear and hatred of mages stems in part from centuries of teaching that all mages are dangerous, and in part from the threat he believes they pose to his family. Until his wife's assassination, he does his best to be moderate and lenient--while dangerous, mages are necessary to the survival of his people, so long as they are appropriately contained. At his heart, he wants nothing more than peace and prosperity for his people, and does his best to limit extremist viewpoints until he is forced into a position where he believes they are necessary.

Played by Alan Rickman
Queen Nida (926 FY-980 FY): Nida is the third and youngest daughter of a noble house in Feredar, one deeply connected to the underground movement in support of freeing and integrating mages into the larger society. She and her sisters were raised to take part in that effort, and eventually trained to attempt to please the young King, in the hopes that he would choose to marry one of them and get a Movement agent into the royal family. Nida succeeded, but fell deeply in love with her husband, and was unable to follow through on her family's plans. She made careful attempts to win her children over to her principles, and succeeded with her eldest daughter and youngest son.

Played by Kate Winslet
Lady Rema (923 FY-994 FY): Nida's older sister--the middle daughter--and her primary handler until a falling-out after the birth of Nida's second son. Rema made several attempts to re-establish herself with her sister, none of which succeeded. She is willing to go to any lengths to see the Movement's goals succeed.

Played by Lucy Lawless
Princess Deva (943 FY-1020 FY): Deva is the oldest child of King Sorell and Queen NIda. She is a Movement operative, mostly serving as a conduit for intelligence. She very rarely takes an active role in operations, other than to provide funding for extractions once the Islanders start sending ships. She married once and hand a single daughter, Princess Mera (b. 962 FY).

Played by Jennifer Morrison
Princess Sola (945 FY-1035 FY): Sola is the second child of King Sorell and Queen Nida. She is largely apolitical, loyal to the Crown rather than to any faction. She is an extremely feminine woman, a flirt, and perhaps more intelligent than others give her credit for. Surprisingly diplomatic, particularly in later years, she served as an integral part of both of her brothers' administrations. She married once and had five sons, Prince Temell (b. 965 FY), Prince Lemir and Prince Rimell (twins, b. 968 FY), Prince Entill (b. 972 FY), Prince Imell (b. 975 FY), and one daughter, Princess Nava (b. 985 FY).

Played by Kristen Chenoweth
Princess Keta (948 FY-?): Keta is the third child of King Sorell and Queen Nida. She is the most intellectual of her siblings, spending most of her time sorting through the Palace Archives and researching relevant history for her father's policies. While she is aware of her mother and sister's efforts with the Movement, she cannot support it, because of her awareness of the historical reasoning behind the decline in mages' positions in society. However, she recognizes that extremism in the opposite direction is just as damaging in the long run. She is quiet and tends to keep to herself. She fled Feredar after the end of the War, and her fate is unknown. She was married once, and had a single son, Prince Denill (b. 970 FY). Denill and his father were killed in a boating accident in 983 FY.

Played by Natalie Portman
Prince Kellom (950 FY-990 FY, r. 988-990 FY): Kellom is the fourth child and first son of King Sorell and Queen Nida. He is a soldier, and tends to think of the world at large in those terms. He is near-fanatical in his hatred of mages, and believes that the world will never be safe until all of them are exterminated. He is willing to make drastic sacrifices to make this palatable to the masses, and engineered his mother's assassination to push his father to action. This was the only time he stepped outside the law to advance his position, until he became King and was able to adjust the laws to suit his beliefs. He was married once, but had no children.

Played by Jamie Bamber
Princess Fera (960 FY-1040 FY): Fera is the only daughter of a minor noble house of Feredar. She is a quiet woman, deeply in love with her husband, and her failure to produce an heir for him was her greatest grief. She has no real political opinion, but endeavors to please her husband and in-laws as much as she can. She is largely a non-entity at court, as her husband has little time for or interest in her, being more focused on his political and military goals. Because of this, her brother-in-law was able to keep her safe when the war ended, and she retired to her family's estates, remaining something of a recluse for the rest of her life. She never remarried.

Played by Jennifer Garner
Prince Mellir (952 FY-989 FY): Mellir is the fifth child and second son of King Sorell and Queen Nida. He is a somewhat ambitious man, but for the most part lacks the will to act upon his ambitions. He lives primarily for pleasure and is attracted to the prestige of the Crown rather than any actual power or responsibility. The least intelligent of his siblings, on a whim he attempted to assassinate his brother, and was killed by him. He was married once, but had no legitimate issue, despite having several acknowledged bastards.

Played by David Anders
Princess Tana (958 FY-?): Tana is the eighth child and fifth daughter of King Sorell and Queen Nida. A bright, beautiful, vivacious girl, she worships her brother Kellom and has little use for anyone else. She chose to involve herself directly in the Purge, indulging in a great deal of hands-on participation. She had a reputation for being creatively violent, and Kellom would give particularly incorrigible mages, with histories of violence, to her for execution. She fled Feredar after the city fell with her sister Keta. Her fate is unknown. She never married or had children.

Played by Helena Bonham Carter
Prince Andrell (965 FY-1040 FY): Andrell is the tenth and last child and fourth son of King Sorell and Queen Nida. He was responsive to his mother's teachings, particularly since he was only fifteen when she died. Despite their political differences, he worshipped his oldest brother and was unwilling to take much direct action in support of his own beliefs until Kellom crossed a line with the Purge. He spent his reign trying to build and maintain peace and heal the rifts in his society, with mixed success. He married Princess Nolani of the City of Glass as part of the post-war treaty, and they had one son, Istell (called Isselu by his mother's people, b. 1002 FY). Istell's descendents united the crowns of Feredar and Glass in the Farglass Empire.

Played by Ralph Fiennes
The Royal Family of the City of Glass
King Amassa (910 FY-997 FY, r. 935-997 FY): Amassa is the oldest child of Queen Menali and her consort, King Udora. He is a good man and a dedicated King, if somewhat blind to the faults of the people closest to him. His consort's name was Lesshura (911 FY-960 FY), and they had five children, Princess Minalu (940 FY-979 FY), Prince Odaki (942 FY-985 FY), twins, Princess Lidare (943 FY-982 FY) and a quicklight (943 FY-960 FY), and Prince Ulore (945 FY-976 FY). He died quietly after a series of heart attacks.

Played by Erick Avari
Princess Kesshare (945 FY-1037 FY): Kesshare is the only child of Princess Messhuni, King Amassa's younger sister. An ambitious woman, she is dedicated to the advancement of her nation and her own power. To this end, she secures her eldest daughter's marriage and fosters disturbances in neighboring nations, moving her soldiers in to pacify and add the nation to her territory. She married a wealthy doctor from a merchant family, Ineku, and had three children. While she does not exactly love any of them, she values them intensely and will wreak havoc on anyone who threatens them.

Played by Shohreh Aghdashloo
Prince Ineku (940 FY-1024 FY): Ineku is the younger son of a prominent trader, and a doctor. He married Princess Kesshare and, despite being well aware of her murderous tendencies, remains deeply in love with her. He provides the warmth his wife cannot to their children.

Played by Navid Negahban
Lady Lonura (962 FY-1037 FY): Lonura is the only child of border nobles in the City of Glass. She is a sound-mage, something she conceals, as per her parents' wishes, for half of her life. She is Princess Nolani's acknowledged lover. Initially, she was bitterly jealous of Nolani's marriage, but they eventually reconciled and remained together for the rest of their lives. Lonura filled the social and political function of the Crown Princess's consort until her death, a few months before her lover became Queen. She never had any children or male lovers.

Played by Aishwarya Rai
Lady Riluke (963 FY-1058 FY): Riluke is the bastard daughter of Prince Odaki. As the living symbol of her father's youthful irresponsibility, she is barred from the succession. She is intelligent, good at drawing information out of people, and serves as her grandfather's (and later aunt's and cousin's) ambassador to the Islands and, less openly, as their spymaster. She never married and had no acknowledged lovers or children.

Played by Rekha Sharma
Princess Nolani (965 FY-1045 FY): Nolani is the eldest child of Princess Kesshare and her consort. A passionate romantic, she spent her wildfire years in a string of brief, passionate romances, stabilizing when she met Lady Lonura. She is deeply attached to and somewhat overprotective of her younger brother, after saving him from an assassination attempt when he was seven years old. She marries Prince Andrell of Feredar as a result of the post-war treaty. After years of difficulty and several miscarriages, they have one son, Isselu (called Istell by his father's people, b. 1002 FY). Isselu's descendents unite the two crowns and merge Feredar and the expanded City of Glass into the Farglass Empire.

Played by Dorra Zarrouk
Prince Isshiri (969 FY-1025 FY): Isshiri is the second child and only son of Princess Kesshare and her consort. An inquisitive, curious young man, he spends most of his life travelling the world, occasionally carrying messages for his family and always sending reports back. When he was seven, he was crippled by his mother's cousin in a failed attempt to curtail her ambitions. He entered Feredar just before the beginning of the War, and provided the intelligence which spurred his great-uncle into his declaration. He formed a close relationship, fraternal on his end, with Mel Artwick, an Islander water-mage he met while in captivity in Feredar. After the war, he travelled widely, and met a young woman named Telri, a blood-mage with lightning- and earth-magic also in her background. He married her, but never told his family due to the stigma and danger associated with blood-magic as well as fears that his mother would separate them by violent means, and they had one daughter, Roneli (b. 1009 FY), a lightning-mage.

Played by Naveen Andrews
Princess Kirana (973 FY-1075 FY): Kirana is the third and youngest child and second daughter of Princess Kesshare and her consort. She is a seer, and entered the priesthood when she was ten. She joined a celibate order, and advised the Kings and Queens of the City of Glass until her death, shortly before the Imperial Decree was issued and the title of Emperor adopted.

Played by Aliza Vellani
Islanders (and Dallu)
Taz Hantree (958 FY-1025 FY): Taz is the eldest daughter of low-ranked Islanders Fes and Rin Hantree. She is a powerful water-mage and thinks fast on her feet, leading to her becoming the first Captain in several generations of her family in 980 FY. Two years later, she is joined by a polar Navigator lightning-mage, being the youngest in her Clan to ever do so. She retired at the end of the War, after her ship, the Morning Glory, sinks. She married her navigator, Dallu, and moved to the North Pole with him, leaving her command to her sister, Kes. She had two children, Selti (b. 994 FY, a lightning-mage) and Dal (b. 996 FY, a water-mage).

Played by Gina Torres
Dallu (?-1025 FY): Dallu is a lightning-mage with a vocation for becoming a navigator. He left the North sometime in his twenties, and joined Captain Taz Hantree at that time. He shortly thereafter became her lover, and fought with her in most of the naval engagements of the War. After the Morning Glory sank, he married her and they returned to his home and had two children.

Played by Paul Bettany
Kes Hantree (960 FY-1050 FY): Kes is the middle daughter of Fes and Rin Hantree. Like her father, she is Unthreaded, an air-mage. As soon as she is old enough, she joins her sister and follows her when she is given her own command. Kes saved her sister's life, much to Taz's distress, when the Morning Glory sank in the last days of the war. Despite the grief this caused, Taz forgave her and left her her comman, and she was given the Black Eye for her own. From there, despite the impediment of her magic, she built an impressive resume and was named Head of Clan Hantree in 1005 FY. She married a few years later, and had no children.

Played by Zoe Saldana
Kit Artwick (943 FY-1010 FY): Kit is a non-mage, the only child of his father's first marriage. Intelligent and talented, but brutal, he became known as a Captain to be feared during inter-Clan disputes. He is extremely attached to the point of possessiveness to his younger half-brother. In 999 FY, he becomes Head of Clan Artwick, and is three years later elected Lord of the Islands. He is also a serial killer, who murdered an unknown number of metal-mages, collecting their hands as souveniers.

Played by Keith Hamilton Cobb
Mel Artwick (960 FY-990 FY): Mel is a water-mage from a high-ranked line in Clan Artwick. His father was the foremost shipwright of Clan Artwick, and several of his aunts and uncles, as well as his half-brother, Kit, were Captains. He was the only child of his father's second marriage, and raised primarily by his mother after his father's death when he was four. His mother was somewhat overprotective. She died when he was sixteen, and he joined his half-brother's crew. He fled in 980 FY, after discovering his brother's secret, becoming a permanent outcast for his betrayal of his Clan and Captain. He settled in Feredar, and was eventually identified as a mage, captured, and enslaved. He escaped in 987 FY with Prince Isshiri, with whom he was in love. He joined the war effort and participated in the death of King Kellom, dying himself in the process. He was long venerated by the Farglass Empire as one of the premier heroes of the War.

Played by Jesse L. Martin
Minor Characters of Note:

Prince Odaki (942 FY-985 FY): Amassa's eldest son, and Crown Princess from his oldest sister's death until his own. He had one bastard daughter, Lady Riluke.
